No Time For Second Best

March 3, 2017

For Steve Brindle, a partner at Advoco, there is only one way to push forward: by focusing on being the best.  “I concentrate on things I am going to be good at. If I don’t think I will be, or I don’t have the time to get there, it’s not something I spend time doing. Mainly because I don’t want to be second best at anything, so instead, I put energy into my strengths, always striving for my best.”

Don’t be afraid to shoot for the best possible outcome with your projects. That way, you’ll be preparing yourself to have a successful project. Allow the innate need for first and best to propel you forward.

A reward for pushing for best is that other people will take notice! And you never know when you might be recognized for what you’re doing…

“We had one client we worked for and we ended up getting a major award,” explains Steve. “I assumed that it was typical for them to give out when a project was completed, but as it turns out, it was a quite prestigious award. We did work hard on that project, but we hold ourselves to a high standard for all projects and interactions. The fact that the client recognized the work we put into the project was rewarding.”

So ask yourself, are you making time for second best, or are you pushing for first? Go into your projects striving for nothing less than your best.

Until next time…We are Advoco, make every minute count.
