Authentic and Generous

In Dale Partridge’s book, People Over Profit, he highlights the seven beliefs of a people-over-profit company. Authenticity Attracts and Generosity Returns are two of the core values.

Have you ever found yourself in a situation that was far from what attracted you in the first place? Perhaps you started working for a company, or supported a nonprofit organization, then learned that the entity was not living the message being portrayed. Or you transitioned into a new role that was ruled by conformity and felt urged to act a certain way.

If an organization is true to their story, it can be extremely powerful. But it must be genuine. Where authenticity attracts authenticity, a false context does not serve as a solid foundation to withstand the tests of time.

Authenticity also cultivates generosity. A generous act should be natural and given freely. If we were to give our time, talent, and financial resources but do so in a way that was restrictive to or demanding of the recipient, we could be sabotaging something greater. Expecting something in return is not an authentic gesture and does not inspire generosity in others.

I am fortunate to work for a company that supports both authenticity and generosity. Each day we strive to live our message by being authentic and generous, and ultimately earning the title of Trusted Advisor.

Today, I challenge you to bring authenticity and generosity to your workplace and see where it takes your team.

Until next time…we are Advoco, make every minute count.
