With the Major League Baseball season upon us, I recently recalled an old baseball saying. The adage is “hope springs eternal.”
Every team starts the season with a clean slate, everyone has a chance to win the pennant. The saying actually comes from an Alexander Pope poem, An Essay on Man.
This is an ever-optimistic view of life. No matter how bad last season, or yesterday, was you have another shot at success today.
As a Chicago Cubs fan, I am familiar with this feeling. The team that my grandparents loved went 108 years without winning the World Series. And you know what? Every year, Cubs fans everywhere were filled with hope when the next season started.
No matter what you go through day to day, be optimistic, focus on the positives, and work hard for your success because “hope springs eternal.”
