Coming right out of school and starting my career, there were a lot of times when I thought “I don’t know what I’m doing.”
Over time I realized, I may not feel like I know exactly what I’m doing, but that’s okay!
And here’s what I would tell someone who may be in this same position – whether you’ve started a new role, just purchased EAM, or anything else that feels unfamiliar to you – here are three things to keep in mind:
1) Use your resources: It’s surprising how many people are afraid to ask for help, but you have to! We’re living in a time when technology is changing every day, and it’s more than okay to ask questions. Get help from your team, see what’s online, or consult with someone in a similar role as yourself.
2) Keep going: When the tough gets going…you gotta keep going! We all hit roadblocks in life, but you can’t let these things paralyze you. Take one step at a time, and you’ll get there.
3) Just do it: Lastly, just do it. Sometimes you may not make the right choice, but that’ll end up being a great learning lesson. And other times you will, and man, will that feel good!
It’s hard to feel like we don’t know what we’re doing, but don’t let that fear keep you from doing something great!
Until next time…we are Advoco, make every minute count.
