Stick To It

One day back in college, my roommate and I were dreaming of our futures and in doing so, had a pessimistic conversation about someone never leaving their home state. My roommate’s dad challenged us saying, “What’s wrong with that? If they are happy, why is it your business, and why does it matter?” I’m the only person my age I know who’s working at the same job now that they started within a year out of college. I spend several hours taking everything out, sweeping every corner out, winterizing some equipment, throwing some things out, and finally cleaning everything off before putting it back in its place. It’s a tough but necessary job. A lot of things in our lives, like the garage, need regular maintenance as you go: putting things back where they belong, fixing things t

More Than Just A Job

There is a saying in the HR world that finding people is easy, recruiting talent is hard. Today’s marketplace is as competitive as ever with companies all wanting to hire their next superstar. When you do finally discover that four-leaf clover, they usually have a plethora of career options whether it be staying at their current job or having multiple offers to choose from. Candidates are looking for more than just a job. They want a lifestyle. This includes not only their personal life but the type of work they do, where they do that work, and how the company they work for can fit in with their desire to make the world a better place. In a recent survey by LinkedIn, 50% of candidates stated
