ENGINEERING NETWORK SECURITY FROM DESIGNER TO FAB

Tropian, a pioneer in the world of mobile telecommunications, built its business using a "fabless" model, meaning that all manufacturing was done by contract providers. As a result, the company had to regularly transfer large amounts of design data to external fabrication plants, as well as share sensitive information with customers. Obviously network security and resilience were paramount for Tropian, so Tropian called Advoco.

Making the right call in network security

Advoco's Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) staff took the lead on this project. CISSP started by listening to Tropian's specific concerns and needs, and then redesigned the company's existing network infrastructure to improve security from both external and internal threats and to create redundancy for maximum reliability. A key part of the redesign effort was to optimize firewall and security devices to safeguard against unauthorized intrusion.

Results that "Exceeded our expectations"

Advoco's solution for Tropian's security had to make sense physically, in that it needed to complement and leverage Tropian's existing infrastructure, and it had to make sense financially. It was a success on both counts and served as a launching pad for further collaboration between Tropian and Advoco.
