MetaReward's core business depended on driving significant numbers of new customers to its clients through long-standing relationships with thousands of high-traffic consumer Web sites. Downtime was not an option. So when MetaReward needed to create a disaster recovery solution in Virginia for its California-based datacenter, the company called the people who had already helped redesign the datacenter's network for dramatically lowercost operation: Advoco.

The requirements for the disaster recovery site were straightforward: to ensure a basic web presence that could operate without the main California data center; to ensure near realtime database synchronization of key customer data; and to ensure the ability to securely move data between locations.

Of course, straightforward doesn't mean easy.

Secure , reliable, fast. No ifs, ands or buts

Fully aware of the challenge, Advoco established minimum application and data requirements for a disaster recovery operation, developing the infrastructure, implementing the network capabilities, and testing the services. Advoco also designed site-to-site connectivity to provide secure communications and data redundancy. And everything was done without disrupting MetaReward's service levels to its clients.

While MetaReward fortunately did not face a live disaster recovery situation, testing proved the disaster recovery capability of Advoco's solution worked exactly as planned. Web sites would be back live within an hour, core data had the necessary back-ups, and a secure VPN was in place. Advoco also assisted with off-site storage of key customer data, providing MetaReward with the benefit of increased efficiency and secure access.
